Property Care Association (PCA) Inaugural Invasive Weed Conference

It was great to attend the first Invasive Weed Conference by the Property Care Association especially being a member!  Lots of discussion about best practice in terms of controlling and eradicating Japanese Knotweed as well as the latest updates on alternatives to herbicide treatment.

Is this Japanese Knotweed?

I am often asked how to identify Japanese Knotweeed.  Here is a photo of Russian Vine – it looks a little like Japanese Knotweed, but the main differences are as follows –

It’s a vine – Japanese Knotweed is more like bamboo as the stems shoot upwards, not twisting and turning like a vine.

The stem is red  – The stems of Japanese Knotweed are green and can be specked red. Where the leaves come off from the stem/branch is red but it is Ziz-zag in appearance.

The leaves – generally Japanese Knotweed leaves are much broader and wider.

Flowers – Japanese Knotweed flowers are generally less white, but yes.. white!

Still unsure?  Then feel free to email me at info@longfieldknotweed.com with a photo or two and I will do my best to confirm if its  Japanese Knotweed!

I’ve never been so excited to receive a car sticker!

Longfield Knotweed Solutions is now a provisional member of the Property Care Association!! Very exciting as this confirms that the company has met the professional industry standards for Japanese Knotweed control and eradication and ensure that we continue to work to these standards!
